Over the weekend I attended a floral and tablescape workshop in South Melbourne at the HQ of successful Melbourne events company, The Style Co.
First we began creating a tradition bouquet in a vase with a modern twist, working with a variety of blooms including blushing bride, silver suede, paper whites, earlicheer, kale and white freesias. Senior Florist Zoe talked about the importance of balance, the twisting of the stems and the grouping of florals and foliage.
Next we each put together a footed arrangement with oasis foam, creating a wild flower design of cascading foliage with a pops of colour using deep magenta roses and chrysanthemums. Vibernum, purple freesia and ivy berry also feature to complete the arrangement.
Maree, head stylist and founder then took charge with the styling side of things, focusing on table arrangements. Maree spoke about using colour in design, placement of utensils and decorations, and different ways of decorating and arranging tables settings.
Thanks to the amazing Zoe and Maree from the Style Co for all of your helpful tips and tricks. Not only did I have an absolute ball, I also learnt a whole heap of info and got lots of new ideas for styling future events. Looking forward to my next workshop!
